We are an US reenactment group located in the Pacific North West of the united States. We reenact members of the Kentucky Mounted volenteers. a regiment that enterd Canada in 1814.
I am interested in the tack that you use on you horses. Saddles and such. can you send information on your riding gear or list a site that I could go to.
Much Thanks
Capt. Ed Seaton
Ed,
I have sent you an e-mail regarding two tack suppliers that may be able to help you.
One is Stateside and the other is in the UK.
The saddler/tackmaker in the U.K is familiar with Napoleonic cavalry kit which we use and is standard French cavalry kit for the Napoleonic wars.
The U.S. contact works on ACW kit.
As you are I believe a British irregular Unit [Pardon me if I am incorrect in this for I do not know anything about British or American units of this time]you would possibly be looking at copies of british kit for the period and not French.
The bridles were made from the orginals in London, though you can get them as dave says from the makers in France. the saddles as stated are standard uk army 1902/1922 saddles.the design has not changed that much since 1815
Dear Mr Lubomski,
My late father, Waclaw Fiedler, was in touch with you several years ago.
On a trip to Poland last week, I met an ex army gentleman who takes part in a re-enactment society in the USA based on the Ulani Krechowieccy. He was most interested when I told him that my father used to be in contact with a similar society in the UK.
Would you be happy to provide me with details of your society that I could pass onto him? Do I understand correctly that your regiment is based on Napoleonic ones and not WW2?
I look forward to hearing from you.
Joanna Chodzko-Zajko
Dear Joanna,
your father ‘Wacek’ was a dear friend to me, we shared the same interests and passions and I will never forget his kindness and support in those early years when we were forming our Polish Guard Lancer’s.
I often think of him and still hold his correspondence.
You are right that our regiment is based on the 1st.Polish Guard Lancer’s [ szwolezierowie Gwardii Cesarza Napoleona] from Napoleonic times.
Our Regiment consists of two companies 1st in the U.K. and 5th in Warsaw, together we have some 25 members.
We take part in parades and historic re-enactments throughout Europe and this year the unit will be present at Waterloo, Wagram, Warsaw for the Soldiers Day parade in August and Detling Kent for the Military Odyssey 2009 on the August Bank holiday at the end of that month.
we are trying to form a company in the U.S.
Any correspondence should be sent to the unit website or to our Polish 5th company via their ARSENAL.PL website.
My best wishes go to you and your family.

correspondence can be sent to this website or to our Polish 5th company in Warsaw through the ARSENAL.PL website.
I am reserching my father Captain Wladyslaw Galica. He served in the Polish 22nd Lancers I think in the firt War and i the Polish V1th Bureau and SOE in the second World War.
I aam writing a book about his war exploits so any information will be well received.
John,
I personally have very little information about Polish military individuals from the Second World War, however I can suggest that you contact the Polish Institute and Gen.Sikorski Museum which is housed at Princess Gate in South Kensington. The Curator there is Mr.Barbarski.I am sure that he or his staff would be very helpful in your research as they do hold a considerable ammount of archive material and records particular to WW2.
If you have difficulty getting the Tel. No. please get back to me.

Ed,
All the saddles are UK military saddles (UP). We found this the easiest common pattern to acquire from the point we were formed.
The bridles etc have been produced from a number of sources. I am not certain whether those sources deal with non-Uk orders.
However, we know of the sellerie-occitane whose website is:
http://www.sellerie-occitane.com
We have bought saddles from the source but not, as yet bridles.
I hope this helps.
Regards
David
